Dr Saumitra Ray

Dr Saumitra Ray is one of the most respected cardiologists in India, widely recognized for his academic and clinical accomplishment by the fraternity, both in India and abroad. He never stood second in any examination in his career, in school, college and university. He secured top position in the Joint Entrance Examination in 1982 to get into medical schooling. After MBBS and MD from Calcutta Medical College, he went to UK for further training. After completing MRCP, he went into cardiology training at the Royal London Hospital Trust. He mastered the noninvasive and invasive cardiac procedures along with gaining a vast experience in clinical and preventive cardiology. After return to India, he started his cardiology clinic and got attached to AMRI group of Hospitals. He also took academic attachment to Vivekananda Institute of Medical Sciences under the West Bengal Health University and became Professor. Apart from his clinical work, he is now a most preferred name in India in the academic field, being invited for most national and international conferences as a guest speaker and debater. He is also the founder president of Calcutta Cardiology Foundation, a non-profit making trust, to promote health education among public and doctors. He also represented the Cardiological Society of India in international platforms and was the Vice President of the Society. He became FRCP at an young age unprecedented in Kolkata.
